13-Year-Old Swara Jadhav Shines with Purple Cap in Mumbai T20 Women's League
13-year-old Swara Jadhav announced herself by finishing as the joint-highest wicket-taker and winning the Purple Cap in the inaugural T20 Mumbai Women’s League 2026 that concluded recently. Representing SoBo Mumbai Falcons, Swara capped a dream campaign with 10 wickets, playing a pivotal role in the franchise’s title-winning run.
Entering the tournament as its youngest signed player, the young spinner consistently delivered breakthroughs throughout the competition and emerged as one of its standout performers.
In a remarkable achievement, Swara finished level with India international and SoBo Mumbai Falcons captain Sayali Satghare on 10 wickets. Swara’s Purple Cap-winning campaign was built on consistency. She finished the tournament with an impressive economy rate of 4.49 while making crucial contributions in key moments.
Her campaign began with bowling figures of 1/19 against Thane Sky Risers before a match-winning spell of 3/19 against Akash Tigers MWS. She followed it up with returns of 2/12 against Akash Tigers MWS and 2/22 against Thane Sky Risers to steadily climb the wicket-taking charts.
The youngster saved another decisive performance for the biggest occasion. In the final against Akash Tigers MWS, Swara delivered a crucial spell of 2/14 to help SoBo Mumbai Falcons secure a 25-run victory and lift the inaugural T20 Mumbai Women’s League trophy.
Reflecting on her breakthrough season, Swara credited her captain for helping her stay focused throughout the competition. “Sayali has been a very supportive captain, both on and off the field. She’s always encouraging me, keeping me grounded and guiding me on how to approach my bowling in different situations. There can be a lot of noise around you during a match, whether it’s the crowd, the music, or everything happening around the ground, but she always reminds me to stay focused on my game and trust my skills,” Swara said.
“I never felt any pressure during the tournament because my focus was only on contributing to the team and doing what I have been practicing. Winning the Purple Cap and helping SoBo Mumbai Falcons win the title is a very special moment for me.
