Abhishek Bachchan Sells Luxurious Mumbai Duplex for Rs 14.5 Crore

Abhishek Bachchan has taken a significant step in the real estate sector by selling his luxurious duplex apartment in Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi area for Rs 14.5 crore. This transaction marks a major move as he expands his interests beyond the film industry into property development.

According to reports, the property is located in a premium residential complex in central Mumbai, Planet Godrej. The duplex, situated on the 40th and 41st floors of the tower, boasts a grand carpet area of 2,249 sq ft. The property was priced at Rs 64,473 per sq ft, and a stamp duty of Rs 89.76 lakhs was involved in the transaction. The deal was reportedly registered on February 12, and the buyers of the property are Rishi Mandawat, a partner at Bain Capital Private Equity, and Smita Mehta.

This sale is not just a financial transaction but also a strategic move for Abhishek Bachchan. The actor has recently entered the real estate business through a strategic profit-sharing partnership with longtime associate and producer Anand Pandit. The collaboration marks Bachchan’s first foray into property development and aligns with Pandit’s expansion into Gujarat’s high-growth GIFT City corridor.

Pandit’s real estate company, Sri Lotus Developers & Realty Limited, is known for luxury residential and commercial projects across Mumbai. This new venture into Gujarat will be executed via a subsidiary, Rise Root Projects Pvt. Ltd., which has entered into a registered development agreement with Abhishek Bachchan under a profit-sharing model. The land parcel involved was originally purchased by Amitabh Bachchan nearly 15 years ago, adding a generational continuity to the project. For Abhishek Bachchan, this project represents his first direct involvement in real estate development, marking a significant diversification into infrastructure and urban development.

While Abhishek Bachchan has previously invested in businesses across sports and entertainment, this move into real estate is a notable shift. It demonstrates his willingness to explore new avenues and leverage his network and resources for diversification. This strategic partnership with Anand Pandit not only diversifies his portfolio but also positions him in a growing market segment.
