Accenture Leases Massive 600,000 Sq Ft Office in Pune for New GCC
The space is located at Phoenix Millennium Towers in Baner, a rapidly growing business hub. The long-term lease spans over 15 years and is valued at around ₹325 crore, reflecting Accenture's strong commitment to expanding its presence in India.
The newly leased facility will house a Global Capability Centre (GCC) - a hub that supports global operations, innovation, and technology development. Accenture plans to occupy the space in two phases, with full operations expected to be completed by June.
GCCs have become a key strategy for multinational companies, allowing them to centralize high-value functions like AI, cloud computing, and digital transformation. Pune is rapidly emerging as one of India's top destinations for global capability centres. Several factors are driving this trend:
- Strong IT ecosystem and talent pool - Lower operational costs compared to Bengaluru and Mumbai - Growing infrastructure and business districts
Recent leasing activity shows that global firms are increasingly choosing Pune for long-term expansion, especially in areas like Baner and Hinjewadi. Accenture's move is not an isolated case. Across India, multinational companies are leasing large office spaces to set up GCCs. In fact, foreign firms leased record office space across major cities recently, driven largely by GCC demand.
This signals a shift where India is no longer just a back-office destination but a hub for core business operations and innovation. The new GCC is expected to generate significant employment opportunities in Pune, particularly in software engineering, AI and data analytics, and cloud and digital services. It will also boost the local real estate market and strengthen Pune's position as a global tech hub.
Accenture's ₹325 crore deal highlights growing confidence in India's long-term tech potential. As more global companies set up GCCs, cities like Pune are evolving into strategic global hubs, not just outsourcing centres, reshaping the future of work and innovation.
