BJP Emphasizes Need for Mayor to Boost Kalyan-Dombivli's Development

KALYAN: To end the stagnation in the development of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, it is essential to have a BJP mayor, asserted BJP Maharashtra State President Ravindra Chavan during a party induction event held in Kalyan.

The event marked the entry of well-known social worker Jatin Prajapati into the BJP, along with hundreds of his supporters from various political parties. Chavan stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, a wave of development is sweeping across Maharashtra. This progress is encouraging political representatives and social workers from other parties to join the BJP. He urged party workers to work together in an organised manner to ensure the entire Kalyan region becomes a BJP stronghold.

Jatin Prajapati, a respected name in Kalyan’s social and political circles, has built a strong reputation over the past two decades through his dedicated social work. He contested the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation elections independently in 2010 and 2015, narrowly losing both times. Despite these setbacks, Prajapati continued his grassroots efforts through his organisation, Astitva Pratishthan.

His close connection with the public, strong youth following, and wide reach made him a desirable candidate for the BJP. The party had been making efforts to bring him on board, which intensified after Ravindra Chavan became BJP State President. This led to Prajapati’s formal induction into the party today.

The induction event, held at Mahajanwadi Hall in Kalyan (West), was attended by BJP leaders including State President Ravindra Chavan, former Union Minister Kapil Patil, Kalyan District President Nandu Parab, MLA Sulabha Gaikwad, senior leader Jagannath Patil, State Women’s Wing Secretary Priya Sharma, former City President Varun Patil, Premnath Mhatre, and Mandal President Ritesh Phadke. The event was also attended by several dignitaries, trade association representatives, and community leaders from the Gujarati, Marwari, and Maratha communities, along with strong participation from the BJP women’s wing.
