BRS President KTR Accuses CM Revanth Reddy of Misusing Pharma City Land for Real Estate

KT Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Sena (BRS), has vehemently criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of misusing the land allocated for the Hyderabad Pharma City project for a real estate venture. This project, which was initially aimed at boosting the pharmaceutical industry, has now been labeled a 'Future City' by the government, much to the dismay of Rao and the farmers who voluntarily parted with their land.

In a strongly worded statement, Rama Rao condemned the scrapping of the 20,000-acre Pharma City project, which spanned across 56 villages. He highlighted that the project was initiated by the previous government led by K Chandrashekhar Rao, with the farmers voluntarily surrendering their land for the state’s industrial growth. However, the current government's decision to repurpose the land for real estate has left the farmers feeling cheated and betrayed.

“The Congress promised to return every acre of land to the farmers. Instead, they are eyeing these lands for real estate under the guise of ‘Future City’,” Rama Rao said, expressing deep concern over the fate of the lands allocated to pharmaceutical companies. He accused Revanth Reddy of lacking vision and causing the wastage of public money.

Rama Rao also cited the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, which stipulates that land acquired for a specific public purpose cannot be diverted for private business interests. He recalled warning the Congress about the legal hurdles two years ago in the Assembly. “After spending hundreds of crores on a PR blitz, even officials now admit to serious legal hurdles,” he said.

The BRS working president further pointed out that the previous BRS government had invested crores of public money in developing infrastructure for the Pharma City project. “Public money wasted, farmers betrayed, citizens fooled,” he said, warning that the government’s actions were against public interest and would cause harm to the people, especially the farmers.

Rama Rao demanded immediate clarity from the government and warned that if Revanth Reddy failed to respond, the BRS would fight on behalf of the farmers to protect their lands and future. “The Congress government’s actions are a clear example of what happens when a clueless leader runs the state,” he said, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency.

This controversy has sparked widespread debate and concern among the local community, with many farmers and activists joining Rama Rao in demanding the return of their land and an end to the real estate project. The BRS has announced that it will organize protests and rallies to put pressure on the government to address their grievances and restore the original purpose of the Pharma City project.
