Congress Leader Pradeep Eshwar Raises Doubts Over CJ Roy's Death, Calls for SIT Investigation
Bengaluru: Congress leader and Chikballapura MLA Pradeep Eshwara has raised significant doubts over the death of businessman CJ Roy, who allegedly committed suicide during Income Tax raids at his office in Bengaluru. Eshwara addressed the media on Saturday, questioning the circumstances surrounding Roy's death.
“Did he really shoot himself using a pistol or did someone shoot him?,” Eshwara stated, raising suspicion. According to reports, CJ Roy, the 57-year-old Chairman of the Confident Group, allegedly shot himself using a pistol during the raids at the group’s headquarters in Langford Town.
Several media reports have claimed that Roy took the extreme step due to severe stress following repeated Income Tax raids on companies linked to him. However, Eshwara pointed out that there was no CCTV footage from the scene of the incident and that only Income Tax Department officials were present at the time. “We do not know what happened inside,” he added.
Furthermore, Eshwara alleged that preliminary information suggests the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had forced Roy to find crores of rupees for elections. “They (BJP) were targeting Roy for refusing to give money. Our country cannot develop with such a corrupt BJP,” he said.
Eshwara also criticized the BJP’s silence on the issue. “Not only Ashokanna, Sunilanna, Yatnal, but also a monkey from Mysuru who keeps talking about everything. Why is no one speaking out about this?” he questioned. He further accused the BJP of not allowing a common man to earn money, stating that Roy had no debt or financial problems. “Income Tax officials have been harassing him for the past one month. If BJP is at the Centre, this harassment will continue,” he added.
Eshwara demanded an SIT investigation into the case, emphasizing the need for a thorough and transparent probe. “The BJP is not allowing a common man to earn money. Roy has no debt, no problem. Income Tax officials have been harassing him for the past one month. If BJP is at the Centre, this harassment will continue,” he said, reiterating his call for an SIT.
In response to the growing demands, Bengaluru Police on Saturday announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the death of C.J. Roy. In a statement, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh ordered a comprehensive and meticulous investigation into the case and transferred the probe to the SIT. The team will be headed by Joint Commissioner of Police (West Zone) C. Vamshi Krishna.
The formation of the SIT is seen as a step towards ensuring a thorough and unbiased investigation into the circumstances surrounding CJ Roy's death, addressing the concerns raised by Eshwara and other critics.
