DHL India Secures 417k sq ft Warehouse Near Mumbai
DHL Supply Chain India, a major player in logistics and supply chain, has secured over 417,000 sq ft of warehousing space at One Samruddhi Park in Amane, Bhiwandi. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing the company's large-format distribution capacity to meet the increasing demand across India's consumption and manufacturing sectors.
The deal involves space owned by Merriment Properties, with a starting monthly rent of ₹9.19 crore and a security deposit of ₹2.75 crore. The lease, registered on November 7, carries a starting monthly rental rate of ₹22 per sq ft.
The handover of the premises took place in October, followed by a 30-day fit-out and rent-free period. The agreement, registered on November 7, includes a nine-month lock-in period, as shown in documents accessed through the realty data analytics platform CRE Matrix.
ET's email query to DHL Supply Chain India remained unanswered until press time. However, this is the second such large transaction concluded by DHL Supply Chain India since August. In August, the company leased over 317,000 sq ft of warehousing space at Panvel, near Mumbai, for over five years to strengthen its distribution network and cater to rising demand from ecommerce and consumer sectors in the region.
DHL Group currently has over 21 million sq ft in warehousing operations in India and serves more than 50,000 locations. These transactions reinforce the ongoing consolidation trend among multinational logistics operators seeking large contiguous spaces through long-term commitments.
The warehouse in the latest deal is located along the Samruddhi Mahamarg corridor in Amane, a Bhiwandi micro-market that has emerged as one of the most active logistics hubs in the Thane region. This strategic location is expected to enhance DHL's ability to efficiently manage logistics and supply chain operations, supporting the growing needs of various sectors in the region.
