Farmers Urged to Resist Real Estate Temptation and Focus on Agriculture
Nalla Suresh Reddy, a prominent advocate for farmers' rights, has issued a strong warning to farmers about the dangers of selling their agricultural land for real estate development. Speaking at a meeting organized by the Telangana Rythu Sangham at the Kothagudem Club, Reddy emphasized the importance of retaining land for agricultural purposes.
Addressing a gathering of concerned farmers, Reddy expressed deep concern over the trend of farmers selling their agricultural lands to real estate developers. He highlighted the financial hardships that many farmers face after exhausting the money received from such sales. Reddy cited several instances where farmers had sold five to ten acres of land, only to find themselves later working as security personnel in the very apartments built on their former farmland.
Reddy urged farmers to resist the temptation of quick financial gains and instead focus on sustainable agricultural practices. He advised them to adopt modern farming techniques and advanced technologies to boost their productivity and income. New high-yielding crop varieties and improved farming methods have opened up new opportunities for farmers to increase their earnings, he noted.
The demand for nutritious crops such as millets has been on the rise, and Reddy encouraged farmers to capitalize on this trend. He advised them to choose crops based on profitability and market demand to maximize their returns. Reddy also assured the farmers that his organization would never divert agricultural land for real estate purposes. Instead, he suggested that the organization could consider expanding farming activities by acquiring additional land if necessary.
By focusing on sustainable agriculture and modern practices, farmers can ensure a steady and reliable source of income, Reddy concluded. His message was well-received by the attendees, who expressed their commitment to following his advice and continuing their farming activities with renewed vigor.
