Festive Demand Drives 8.2% Rise in Housing Market

By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-10-21

India's residential property market recorded a notable improvement in buyer demand during July–September 2026. According to the latest PropIndex, housing demand rose by 8.2% quarter-on-quarter, signalling a robust festive season for developers and buyers alike.

The demand surge was particularly strong in the premium segment, as homebuyers increasingly favour larger, better-equipped residences. This shift reflects growing disposable incomes and a preference for quality living spaces in metropolitan and tier-2 cities.

Festive Sentiment and Supply

The festive period traditionally spurs property purchases, and this year is no exception. Developers have responded with new launches and attractive payment plans, further fuelling interest. Supply-side activity also remained steady, ensuring adequate inventory across price points.

Outlook

With the momentum expected to continue into the coming quarters, analysts suggest that the premium housing segment will remain a key driver. However, affordability in the mid-income category remains a focus area for policymakers and developers.
