Guntur Police Nab Mother-Son Duo for Multi-Crore Real Estate Fraud
Vijayawada: In a significant breakthrough, the Nagarampalem police in Guntur have arrested a woman and her son on charges of orchestrating large-scale real estate frauds. The duo is accused of creating fake property documents and cheating victims to the tune of several crores.
According to the police, the accused first came under investigation in 2015 when they allegedly created forged property documents for land in Kannavari Thota, Guntur, valued at around Rs 4.50 crore. They sold the property using fraudulent registration documents to a victim identified as Pachipulusu Ramanatham (63) of Piduguralla town in Palnadu district. The victim, who paid the amount in installments, later discovered that the land did not belong to the accused but to other legal owners.
When confronted, the accused allegedly refused to return the money and threatened the complainant. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim, police registered a case. The accused were identified as Palvai Prasanna Lakshmi (48) and her son Palvai Jayakrishna (31), both residents of Pandaripuram, Guntur. Police revealed that the duo was involved in multiple property frauds over the years, using similar methods of forging land documents and selling properties that did not belong to them.
Investigations confirmed that the accused were previously jailed in connection with similar crimes but continued to commit financial offences under the guise of real estate deals. So far, eight cases have been registered against them in different police stations: three in Pattabhipuram, one in Mangalagiri Town, one in Nallapadu, two in Gudur One Town, and one in Achampet. Police stated that further investigation is underway, and additional arrests linked to the case are expected.
The real estate market in Guntur has been a bustling sector, attracting numerous investors and homebuyers. However, this incident highlights the need for stricter regulations and vigilance to prevent such fraudulent activities. The police have urged the public to be cautious and verify all property documents thoroughly before making any transactions.
The arrests send a strong message that such fraudulent activities will not be tolerated, and the law will take strict action against those involved in real estate scams. The police are also conducting awareness campaigns to educate the public about the common tactics used by fraudsters and how to protect themselves from such schemes.
