IHG Expands in Mumbai with New Holiday Inn Express BKC
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a franchise agreement with YB Group to develop the Holiday Inn Express Mumbai BKC, further strengthening its presence in India’s financial capital. The 100-key hotel is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2028 and will cater primarily to corporate, MICE, and transit demand.
Located on the periphery of Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai’s premier commercial district, the hotel will offer strong connectivity to major corporate offices, consulates, cultural venues, luxury retail, and dining hubs. The location is expected to attract a mix of domestic and international business travellers, conference delegates, and short-stay visitors.
Holiday Inn Express, IHG’s largest and fastest-growing brand with more than 3,200 hotels globally, is positioned in the essentials segment, offering efficient, comfortable stays for business and leisure travellers. The Mumbai BKC property will feature the brand’s Generation 5 design, incorporating flexible workspaces and contemporary interiors.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the signing aligns with IHG’s strategy to expand in high-demand urban markets. He noted that the BKC location, with its year-round corporate activity, positions the hotel as a strong fit for the brand’s value-driven offering.
Tinaaz Wadia, Asset Manager – Real Estate Strategy, YB Group, said the collaboration reflects YB Group’s focus on developing institutional-grade hospitality assets in core business districts, supported by IHG’s global systems and brand strength.
Holiday Inn Express Mumbai BKC will be IHG’s third Holiday Inn Express project in the city, alongside developments in Andheri–Kurla Road and Powai. The company’s Mumbai portfolio also includes the operational InterContinental Marine Drive Mumbai and Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport, with a voco hotel scheduled to open in mid-2026.
