SunFed announces sponsorship of Olympic hopeful Sofia Arreola

Sofia-21Sofia-2SunFed strives daily to grow, pack and deliver Perfect Produce. But that is not always easy… perfection never is.

Sofia Arreola, National Track Champion and two time silver medalist at the 2013 World Championships, also strives for perfection every day. That quest for perfection is something SunFed can relate to, making its decision to sponsor her quest for Olympic gold in 2016 a very easy one.

“I met Sofia about a year ago,” said Brett Burdsal, SunFed’s director of marketing. “I was immediately impressed, not only by what she had accomplished on the bike, but with her attitude and outlook on life. She is an incredibly bright and articulate young lady. She is giving everything she has to a very demanding sport. To me she embodies the healthy, active person that, regardless of age or gender, we should all strive to be.”

Arreola, who resides in Colorado Springs and races for Team TWENTY16, will be competing in the upcoming UCI track World Cups, which will include stops in Mexico, Great Britain, Columbia and France.

“Fruits and vegetables are such an important part of my day, my week, and my life,” she said. “Being able to partner with SunFed is great. I look forward to enjoying all of their incredibly fresh produce they will be sending. Absolutely nothing beats enjoying full flavored fruit or fresh vegetables as I am training, recovering or just hanging out. I am so excited by this partnership.”

USA Pears sponsors Olympic athlete Torin Koos

Culinary experts often claim that “what grows together, goes together,” and Olympic cross-country skier Torin Koos — who grew up in the heart of Pacific Northwest pear country, home to 84 percent of the U.S. fresh pear crop — proves this adage rings true.

“Koos’s approach to healthy diet and fitness inspires all who want to live a healthier lifestyle,” USA Pears stated in a press release. (Photo courtesy of Toko USA)“In support of that message, USA Pears has been an official sponsor of 33-year-old Koos for several years and is proud to continue its support as he competes in his fourth consecutive Winter Olympic Games in 2014.”

To keep his fans and fellow pear aficionados updated on the latest from Sochi, Koos will be posting regular photo updates from USA Pears’ Instagram account. The popular smartphone application allows users to share photos and video with followers. As he’s preparing for the games and settling into Sochi, Koos has given USA Pears fans a glimpse from his journey via Instagram, recently reassuring followers that there are plenty of sweet and juicy USA Pears in the Olympic Village dining hall. The 2014 Winter Olympic Games are being held Feb. 7-23 in Sochi, Russia.

As a professional athlete, Koos says that sound nutrition is integral to his success and pears are a key part of his diet. Having been raised among the orchards in Leavenworth, WA, he holds a special affinity for pears, which inspires his important pre-race meal: “A tall glass of orange juice and a big bowl of oatmeal, topped with slices of Green Anjou pears three hours before race time,” he said. “Works like a charm.”

When asked his feelings about the Olympics, Koos said, “It’s the festival of sport powerful enough to unite the world. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?”
