Lodha Developers Boosts Data Centre Investment in Maharashtra to ₹1.3 Lakh Crore
Mumbai-based real estate major Lodha Developers has announced an additional investment of ₹1 lakh crore to scale up its data centre ambitions in Maharashtra, taking the company’s total planned outlay in the segment to ₹1.3 lakh crore. The commitment was disclosed through a regulatory filing, marking one of the largest data centre investments proposed in India to date.
The fresh investment comes barely four months after the company signed a ₹30,000-crore memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to develop a large data centre project under the state’s Green Integrated Data Centre Park policy. The expanded commitment significantly deepens Lodha’s presence in the rapidly growing digital infrastructure space.
On January 19, Abhishek Lodha, Managing Director and CEO of Lodha Developers Ltd, signed the latest MoU with the Maharashtra government on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. The consolidated investment of ₹1.3 lakh crore will go into developing a data centre park with an estimated capacity of around 2.5 gigawatts, which the company claims will be the largest of its kind in the country.
“Over and above the ₹30,000 crores commitment last year to develop the data centre park, we have signed another agreement with the Government of Maharashtra to invest an additional ₹1 lakh crore. The state has already scaled newer heights under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra. His vision and actions directed towards developed Maharashtra give us immense confidence in committing to such a large investment,” Abhishek Lodha said.
According to the company, the proposed data centre park is expected to generate over 16,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, reinforcing Maharashtra’s position as a preferred destination for digital infrastructure investments. The park is designed to host multiple large domestic and international operators.
Global technology players have already begun securing space within the proposed campus. Amazon has acquired land for its data centre operations and has lined up power arrangements for the next 15 years. Singapore-headquartered STT Global Data Centres has also purchased a land parcel within the park.
With cloud adoption, AI workloads, and data localisation requirements accelerating in India, Lodha’s expanded investment underscores rising confidence in Maharashtra’s policy environment and long-term demand for hyperscale data infrastructure.
