Maharashtra, Cleveland Clinic, Brookfield, and Arodhan Health City Sign MoU for Navi Mumbai International MediCity

In a landmark step towards creating one of the world’s most ambitious healthcare ecosystems, the Government of Maharashtra, Cleveland Clinic (CC), Brookfield Asset Management, and Arodhan Health City (AHC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of Navi Mumbai International MediCity.

The Honorable Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis was present online from Mumbai via video conference to witness this momentous occasion. He was joined by senior government officials and MOU partners from Brookfield and AHC.

Kaustubh Dhavse, Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister, represented the Government on this occasion at CC’s headquarters in Cleveland. The Cleveland Clinic team was led by their CEO Dr. Tomislav Mihaljevic, Dr. Sameer Kapadia (Chairman of Cardiovascular Medicine), Dr. Falcone (President of Emerging Markets), and Shri. Lakshmi Mittal, Executive Chairman of Arcelor Mittal and Board Member of CC. Dr. Saloni Patwardhan from AHC was also present in Cleveland.

Envisioned as India’s first global-scale healthcare, research, medical education, and medical tourism platform, NMIMC will be developed on approximately 250 acres adjacent to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. Under the proposed partnership, Cleveland Clinic will serve as the anchor institution for the project, bringing its globally recognized expertise in quaternary care, medical education, research, innovation, and patient-centric healthcare delivery. The project is expected to attract approximately USD 1.2 billion in investment and generate over 10,000 direct jobs.

The vision for NMIMC extends beyond healthcare delivery. The ecosystem is designed to integrate world-class hospitals, medical and nursing education institutions, clinical research centers, biotechnology and life sciences facilities, AI-driven healthcare innovation, wellness infrastructure, and allied healthcare services within a single collaborative campus.

As part of the broader innovation ecosystem being developed around MediCity, LNMIIT Jaipur, founded by Shri Lakshmi N. Mittal, has offered to collaborate with Cleveland Clinic and NMIMC by contributing research infrastructure, advanced technology capabilities, and academic expertise to support cutting-edge healthcare innovation, translational research, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine initiatives.
