MahaRERA Registers Over 50,000 Real Estate Agents in Eight Years
The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has registered more than 50,000 real estate agents since its inception eight years ago, reflecting the significant growth and regulation of the sector. According to data released by the authority, a total of 50,673 agents have been registered so far, of which 31,980 remain actively registered. The remaining 18,693 registrations have been cancelled due to various reasons.
Interestingly, MahaRERA’s reach extends beyond state borders, with agents from as many as 150 cities outside Maharashtra such as New Delhi, Gurugram, Prayagraj, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Goa, Ahmedabad, Patna, and Jammu also registered with the authority.
Mumbai leads with the highest number of registered real estate agents, crossing 11,800. The Pune region follows with over 8,200 agents, including more than 7,000 within Pune city limits. Thane ranks third with over 6,700 agents, while the Nagpur region has more than 1,500 registered.
Other prominent cities like Nashik and Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) have relatively fewer registrations, with 324 and 343 agents, respectively. The figures underscore MahaRERA’s pivotal role in bringing transparency and formal structure to real estate brokering across and beyond Maharashtra.
MahaRERA has been instrumental in ensuring that real estate transactions are transparent and fair, protecting the interests of both buyers and sellers. The authority has implemented strict guidelines and regulations, which have helped in reducing fraudulent activities and improving the overall trust in the real estate market. This regulatory framework has not only benefited the local market but has also attracted agents from other states, further expanding the reach and influence of MahaRERA.
