Mumbai Property Registrations Surge 6% to 1.5 Lakh Units in 2025

NEW DELHI: The registration of properties in the Mumbai municipal region witnessed a 6% increase in 2025, totaling 150,231 units. This marks a 14-year high in property registrations, driven by robust demand in the housing market.

According to data cited by real estate consultant Knight Frank India, the Mumbai municipal region, which includes areas under the jurisdiction of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), delivered its strongest housing market performance in 14 years. The number of property registrations in 2025 stood at 150,231 units, up from 141,202 units in 2024.

In December 2025 alone, 14,424 properties were registered, marking a 16% increase from the 12,418 units registered in December 2024. Residential properties accounted for 80% of the total registrations during this period.

Shishir Baijal, Chairman and Managing Director of Knight Frank India, commented on the milestone: '2025 marked a steady and mature phase for Mumbai's housing market, with property registrations crossing 1.50 lakh units, the highest level seen in the last 14 years.
