Mumbaikars, Get Ready for Drone Deliveries to Your Doorstep in 2026
Mumbai is moving beyond traditional on-road deliveries and stepping into the future. It may sound surprising, but the city is set to welcome its first residential drone delivery service in early 2026. The initiative aims to cut delays caused by traffic congestion and reduce carbon emissions, making deliveries faster and greener. Scroll down for more details.
Amazing news for Mumbai residents. The city is all set to start its first drone delivery services. This new initiative is a partnership between drone logistics company Skye Air and real estate firm Siddha Sejal Group. The pilot launch will take place at the Siddha Sky housing society in Wadala. The goal behind this new service? Simple: to make residents’ lives easier.
Drones will deliver essentials, e-commerce packages, and other orders directly within the residential complex. This system could help tackle some of Mumbai’s biggest challenges, including traffic congestion, delivery delays, and rising carbon emissions. Currently, over five lakh deliveries are made in the city every day, and drones could make a noticeable difference.
The best part about this upcoming drone delivery service in Mumbai is that it will cover a 1-km distance in just 60 seconds. According to News18, when a drone reaches the residential complex, it will not land on balconies. Instead, it will place the package safely in a designated Skye-Pod zone, where residents can collect it easily. All deliveries will be managed through Skye UTM, an AI-powered system that controls drone routes and traffic at low altitudes, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Packages will be carried by Skye Air’s drones from nearby fulfilment centres, or Skye Hubs, within a 30 km radius. The main drone used will be the Skye Ship One, a multi-rotor drone that can carry up to 10 kg in a single flight. Skye Air has experience with drone deliveries in other Indian cities like Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru. In these cities, the company handles over 200,000 shipments every month in collaboration with major firms like Flipkart and Bluedart.
