Navi UPI and ONDC Network Join Forces to Simplify Metro Travel in Major Cities

Navi UPI has integrated with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) Network to make metro travel simpler, faster, and fully digital. Now commuters in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru can purchase Metro QR tickets directly through the Navi app, with more cities, including Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi, following soon.

With this integration, Navi UPI users can now plan routes, book QR tickets for single or return journeys, and make instant payments, all in one flow. The feature allows travellers to skip queues, avoid multiple apps, and go paperless.

Speaking about the partnership, Rajiv Naresh, MD & CEO, Navi Limited (formerly Navi Technologies Limited) said, “India’s metros move more than a crore people every day, yet a large share of riders still rely on cash and queues. At Navi, we believe daily payments shouldn’t slow anyone down. By integrating with the ONDC Network, we’re making metro travel truly digital – one app, one QR ticket, one seamless tap on Navi UPI. For commuters on the go, this is how everyday mobility should feel.”

Nitin Nair, Senior Executive Director, ONDC said, “Navi’s integration shows how open networks are changing the game in India’s digital journey. With just one integration, Navi now lets commuters buy QR tickets across five metro systems; quick, easy, and all in one app. As more companies like Navi adopt open protocols, the value to consumers multiplies across use cases. This is how open ecosystems move from innovation to impact, making everyday services simpler and more connected for everyone.”

Currently live with Delhi Metro, Mumbai Metro (Lines 1, 2A, 7 & 3), and Bengaluru Metro, the integration is part of ONDC Network’s broader effort to enable mobility solutions on open networks. Navi UPI plans to extend the experience to additional cities and transport systems, bringing everyday mobility into the digital fold.

The Urban Metro Rail ecosystem serves 1.15 crore daily commuters, with more than 40% of commuters depending on cash or physical tickets. By digitising one of the country’s most common public transport transactions, Navi UPI aims to increase digital adoption while rewarding customers for their daily journeys. The app continues to evolve as one of India’s fastest-growing payment apps – offering instant transfers, strong security, and rewards for everyday payments.
