ORERA Appoints Land Experts to Expedite Real Estate Project Registration
BHUBANESWAR: In a significant move to streamline the real estate sector, the Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ORERA) has appointed three land experts and consultants to facilitate the timely verification of documents for the registration of real estate projects. The appointments come after the Housing and Urban Development department approved the proposal of ORERA chairperson Asit Kumar Mohapatra.
Three officials—Sangram Kumar Raysardar, Laxmidhar Sahoo, and retired IAS officer Surya Madhaba Panigrahi—have been appointed to the Authority. These experts, who have extensive knowledge in revenue-related matters, will be attached to the member administration and will work towards the speedy disposal of pending cases pertaining to ORERA registration.
The section 4 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA) mandates that developers and promoters register their projects with the authority. This process requires the submission of detailed project plans, land title proof, encumbrance declarations, and timelines, among other documents. It also mandates the filing of prescribed forms and the submission of necessary documents.
ORERA chairperson Asit Kumar Mohapatra had proposed to the government the appointment of experts and consultants to facilitate quicker resolutions to the registration process. “The additional manpower will help us in speeding up the vetting and verification of the documents and expedite the clearance of cases,” Mohapatra stated. This move is expected to significantly reduce the backlog of pending cases and ensure that real estate projects are registered in a timely manner.
The appointment of these experts is a crucial step in enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the real estate regulatory framework in Odisha. It will not only help in the timely registration of projects but also ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met, thereby protecting the interests of both developers and homebuyers.
The real estate sector in Odisha has been growing steadily, and the timely registration of projects is essential to maintain the momentum. The appointment of these experts is a positive step towards achieving this goal and ensuring that the regulatory process is robust and efficient.
