Prominent Ludhiana Real Estate Group Faces Legal Challenges as Chairman and Sons Booked in Two Fraud Cases
Ludhiana: The police have registered two separate cases of alleged property fraud against the family members of a prominent private real estate group based in Sangowal village, known as the GK Group. The chairman of the group, Gulshan Kumar, and three of his sons have been named as accused in the FIRs. The GK Group is reportedly a well-known entity in the city's real estate sector. Police officials have stated that investigations are underway in both cases, but no arrests have been made as of yet.
The first case was registered against three individuals: Group Chairman Gulshan Kumar and his sons, Rohit Kumar and Sunny Kumar. Complainant Tarvinder Singh, a resident of Lohara, laid an allegation on March 13. The complaint suggests that Gulshan Kumar, Rohit, and Sunny conspired to build a petrol pump adjacent to his two shops. They then allegedly attempted to encroach upon his land by extending the petrol pump's tiled area onto his property. The cops launched an investigation after receiving the complaint and subsequently issued orders to register a case against the three accused.
The second case involves a separate property transaction and names another son of the chairman: Sahil Kumar of Aggar Nagar Extension, along with another person, Harjit Singh of Dhandra Road. Complainant Gurcharan Kaur, a resident of Gobindgarh, laid an allegation on December 26, 2024. The complaint suggests that the accused entered a contract to sell her a plot of land measuring 7 kanals, 10 and a half marlas (4,252 square yards) in Sangowal village. She claims the accused subsequently sold the contracted land to other persons, thereby cheating her. After investigation, the Sadar police station registered an FIR against Sahil Kumar and Harjit Singh under sections related to fraud, criminal conspiracy, and the Registration Act.
The registration of two separate FIRs against the chairman and his sons highlights the mounting legal challenges facing the prominent real estate group. The GK Group's reputation in the local real estate market is now under scrutiny, and the outcomes of these cases could have significant implications for the group's future operations.
