Public Outrage Over Privatisation of Medical Colleges: YSRCP's One-Crore Signature Campaign Gains Momentum
Visakhapatnam, Dec 15: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has declared the one-crore signature campaign against the privatization of medical colleges a grand success. Former minister Gudivada Amarnath, speaking to the media, highlighted the strong public sentiment against the government's decision to privatize these institutions.
The signed copies collected from all district headquarters are being sent to the party headquarters. YSRCP Party President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is scheduled to meet the Governor on December 18 to submit the signatures. He will also apprise the Governor of the public opposition and request an immediate rollback of the privatization move.
Gudivada Amarnath emphasized that the one-crore signature campaign clearly reflects the mood of the people, who are strongly against the privatisation of medical colleges. He pointed out that the Chandrababu Naidu government has been giving away prime land in the city at throwaway prices to real estate companies, a practice he described as unprecedented.
One of the key examples cited by Amarnath was the 30 acres of prime land at Rushikonda, which was given to Sattva Developers at extremely low prices. This, he said, raises serious questions about possible conspiracy and corruption involving the father-son duo. He added that such concessions were not extended in other states.
Amarnath also criticized the coalition government for offering out-of-the-way discounts to real estate companies. These discounts included drastically deflating land values, extending payment periods, and waiving interest. He noted that companies like Sattva Developers and the Lulu Group were receiving undue concessions, which the YSRCP is committed to fighting at all levels to prevent misuse of office and loss to the exchequer.
Furthermore, Amarnath pointed out that the coalition government, which has taken loans of Rs 2.66 lakh crore, has failed to fulfill its poll promises or effectively carry out welfare measures. In contrast, he stated, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government strictly followed the job calendar and implemented all welfare schemes on schedule.
The YSRCP's stance on these issues has garnered significant public support, and the party is determined to continue its efforts to protect public interests and ensure transparent governance.
