Pune: MIDC Cracks Down on Builders in Hinjawadi for Dust and Noise Pollution
Hinjawadi, 26th December 2025: The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has taken a firm stance against real estate developers in the Hinjawadi IT Park area. Notices have been issued to Reyaansh Logistics, Gera Projects, Godrej Properties, and Pegassus Properties, mandating them to implement measures to control air and noise pollution in the Megapolis area.
Residents of Megapolis, a significant residential hub within Phase III of Hinjawadi IT Park, have been voicing their concerns over the dust and noise issues caused by construction activities. The primary complaints revolve around the accumulation of dust on roads due to improperly covered and overloaded trucks transporting earth and construction debris.
MIDC Executive Engineer RG Totla emphasized the seriousness of the situation. “The dust and debris from construction vehicles pose serious health risks for residents in the Megapolis area. We recently held a meeting with the developers and have instructed them to strictly follow environmental guidelines,” Totla stated.
In response to the notices, all four developers have assured MIDC of their commitment to environmental compliance. They have submitted their compliance reports, detailing the steps they are taking to mitigate the pollution issues. Reyaansh Logistics, for instance, has implemented a strict policy to ensure all trucks are properly covered and are not overloaded. Gera Projects has increased the frequency of road cleaning and sprinkling water to reduce dust. Godrej Properties has installed additional noise barriers around their construction sites, and Pegassus Properties has introduced a monitoring system to track and manage noise levels.
The Megapolis area, known for its rapid development and increasing residential population, has been a focal point for environmental concerns. The efforts by MIDC and the developers aim to ensure a balanced approach to urban development while maintaining a healthy living environment for the residents.
Residents have welcomed the actions taken by MIDC and the developers. “We are relieved to see that the authorities are taking our concerns seriously. The measures being implemented will go a long way in improving our quality of life,” said a resident of Megapolis.
The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is a state-owned corporation responsible for the development of industrial infrastructure in Maharashtra. The recent actions in Hinjawadi are part of MIDC's broader efforts to address environmental issues in rapidly developing areas.
As the construction activities continue, the community and the authorities remain vigilant, ensuring that the developers adhere to the guidelines and maintain a high standard of environmental responsibility.
