Pune: PMC Recovers Rs 15.27 Crore Property Tax in Three Days Under Amnesty Scheme

Pune, 17th November 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Property Tax Amnesty Scheme has received an encouraging response within the first three days, with 2,598 property owners clearing dues amounting to ₹15.27 crore.

The civic body currently has outstanding property tax arrears of ₹13,097 crore. This includes ₹2,000 crore from properties in newly merged villages, ₹4,250 crore from mobile towers, and dues from a total of 6,37,609 properties within the old city limits.

To speed up recovery, PMC launched a two-month Amnesty Scheme from November 15 to January 15. Under this scheme, defaulters will receive a 75% waiver on the penalty component of their property tax dues. The benefit is applicable to 4.81 lakh properties, including residential, non-residential, and open plots.

The scheme commenced on Saturday, with PMC decorating its main building, 15 ward offices, and 59 citizen facilitation centres using banners, boards, and rangoli designs to guide taxpayers and raise awareness.

PMC officials said the initial response indicates that more property owners may come forward over the next few weeks, helping the civic body strengthen its revenue and expedite development works across the city.

The success of this Amnesty Scheme is a significant step towards resolving the long-standing issue of property tax arrears, which has been a major challenge for the PMC. By offering a substantial waiver on penalties, the civic body aims to encourage more property owners to settle their dues and contribute to the city's development.

The PMC has also set up dedicated helplines and online portals to assist taxpayers in understanding the scheme and making the payment process smoother. This initiative is expected to not only boost the corporation's finances but also improve the overall infrastructure and services in Pune.

With the ongoing support and cooperation from the public, the PMC is optimistic about achieving its target and ensuring a more transparent and efficient tax collection system.
