Punjab Man Arrested for Shooting Real Estate Businessman in Jaipur
Jaipur: Sriganganagar police arrested Purushottam Singh, a 32-year-old resident of Kotkapura in Punjab, on Thursday in connection with a brazen daylight shooting of a real estate businessman near a gym on Tuesday. According to SP Sriganganagar Gaurav Yadav, Singh chauffeured the shooters in a vehicle to Faridkot in Punjab after the attack. Yadav said the investigation revealed that Singh had conducted a reconnaissance of the neighborhood in advance, gathering critical details for the hit. After the gunfire, he allegedly helped the assailants ditch their motorbike and escape.
The shooting took place outside a gym on Jassa Singh Road on Tuesday afternoon. The victim, Ashish Gupta, a 50-year-old real estate businessman, had just stepped out after a workout when two motorcycle-borne gunmen opened fire, striking him in the leg. He was rushed to a private hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
A CCTV clip shows Gupta speaking on his phone when one of the shooters approached and fired several rounds. Gupta managed to retreat into the gym through a side entrance, causing the shooters to flee on the same motorcycle, which Singh later helped to abandon. SP Yadav added, 'We have identified the shooters.'
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing concern over the safety and security of the area. The police are continuing their investigation and are working to apprehend the other individuals involved in the attack. They urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
SP Gaurav Yadav stated that the police are committed to bringing all those involved to justice and ensuring that such incidents do not occur again in the future. 'We are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of our citizens and to maintain law and order in the city,' he said.
