Real Estate Businessman Shot Outside Gym in Sriganganagar: Investigation Underway

A 50-year-old real estate businessman, Ashish Gupta, was shot at outside a gym on Jassa Singh Road in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, on Tuesday. The attack, which occurred in broad daylight, has left the local community shaken and the authorities on high alert.

Gupta, a well-known property developer in the region, was attacked by two men on a motorcycle just after he finished his workout session. He sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was quickly taken to a private hospital for treatment. His condition is currently stable, and he is under medical supervision.

A social media post went viral shortly after the incident, in which the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the shooting. The post, shared from a Facebook account under the name Anmol Bishnoi, named Hari Boxer and Arzu as the shooters and claimed they acted on Bishnoi's instructions. The post also accused Gupta of land fraud and issued a final warning to him. However, the police have stated that the authenticity of the post is under investigation and that a rivalry is not being ruled out as the motive behind the attack.

The shooting was captured on CCTV cameras. Footage shows Gupta standing outside the gym, speaking on his phone, when one of the attackers approaches and opens fire. In a desperate attempt to escape, Gupta runs back into the gym through a side gate, prompting the gunman to retreat. The second man, who was waiting nearby, joins him, and the two flee the scene the same way they arrived.

Residents of the area reported hearing multiple gunshots. A team from the Kotwali police station arrived at the scene and recovered several spent cartridges. Police immediately set up checkpoints across the district and began reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding areas to trace the movements of the attackers.

Gupta is a prominent figure in the real estate industry in Sriganganagar, with several residential projects under his name. His business acumen and reputation have made him a target for criminal elements in the region. Several prominent businesspersons in districts bordering Punjab, including Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh, are under threat from organized criminal gangs. Some of them have even been provided police security following threat assessments.

The local police have assured the community that they are doing everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. They have also urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.

The incident has highlighted the growing concerns over the safety and security of business leaders in the region, and the need for increased vigilance and law enforcement to prevent such attacks in the future.
