SEBI Court Grants Travel Permission to Stockbroker Ketan Parekh After ₹27-Crore Deposit
Mumbai: The special SEBI court has granted stockbroker Ketan Parekh permission to travel to Thailand (November 5-9) and the UAE (November 18-28) for a family vacation and a wedding. This decision comes after Parekh deposited ₹27 crore or its equivalent as security with SEBI. The court had previously rejected his plea due to SEBI rule violations.
Parekh has a history of travel permissions. He was previously allowed to travel from December 2014 to March 2025 and from January 2021 to June 2023. He was found to have wrongfully gained ₹65.77 crore and has already repaid ₹38.70 crore. His defense argued for travel permission, citing joint liability and prior court approvals.
The court granted Parekh's request, contingent on the deposit of ₹27 crore or equivalent security with SEBI, despite objections from SEBI counsel. This decision marks a significant step in Parekh's efforts to resume his personal and professional activities while adhering to the legal framework set by SEBI.
Ketan Parekh is a well-known stockbroker in India, known for his high-profile cases and significant financial transactions. The Special SEBI Court's decision reflects a balanced approach to justice, ensuring that Parekh's legal obligations are met while also allowing him to attend important personal events.
