Sunetra Pawar Honors Maharashtra’s First CM Y B Chavan in Emotional Visit
Pune, Feb 2 (PTI) Sunetra Pawar, the newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and a prominent NCP leader, made a significant visit to Karad in Satara district on Monday. She paid her respects at the memorial of Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan, the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This visit marks her first official tour since assuming office on Saturday.
Sunetra Pawar, after reaching Karad from Baramati in the Pune district, laid floral tributes at 'Pritisangam', the memorial dedicated to Y B Chavan. Y B Chavan is highly revered by NCP founder Sharad Pawar, who considers him a mentor. Sunetra Pawar's late husband, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, also frequently invoked Chavan's ideologies and legacy.
Later in the day, Sunetra Pawar is scheduled to visit Phaltan in Satara district to meet the family of Vidip Jadhav, the Personal Security Officer of Ajit Pawar, who was killed along with him in the tragic air crash in Baramati last week. Ajit Pawar and four others lost their lives in the plane crash on January 28.
Sunetra Pawar's appointment as the state's first woman Deputy Chief Minister on January 31 is a historic milestone. Her visit to the memorial of Y B Chavan not only underscores her respect for the state's political history but also highlights her commitment to carrying forward the principles and values that her late husband and the NCP party hold dear.
