Teenage Real Estate Agent Shoots Gardener Over Gate Dispute in South Delhi
New Delhi: A tragic incident unfolded early Monday in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri, where a 37-year-old gardener, Santlal, was shot dead over a disagreement about a closed gate. Santlal, who also worked as a caretaker of the property, was found lying motionless near the cremation ground after being shot in the chest.
Police have arrested 19-year-old Piyush Yadav, a local real estate agent, for allegedly committing the crime. The incident took place around 2 am near the Shamshan Ghat in Dera village. A police team was dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of women crying loudly in the neighborhood.
Upon arrival, the police discovered a man lying motionless near the cremation ground. An empty cartridge was found at the location, which provided crucial evidence. During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused had a heated argument with the victim over the closing of a gate at the property.
The altercation escalated, and in a fit of rage, Piyush allegedly shot Santlal and fled the scene. When questioned, Piyush confessed to the crime and led the police to the gun he had hidden in his house. Santlal, who took care of several properties in the vicinity, was taken to Safdarjung Hospital for a post-mortem.
Piyush Yadav, who runs his real estate business from Chhatarpur Phase 2, is now in police custody. This incident highlights the growing tensions and violent disputes in the real estate sector, where property management and gate access can often lead to serious confrontations.
The community in Fatehpur Beri is in shock over the senseless loss of life. Local authorities are urging residents to resolve disputes peacefully and to report any suspicious activities to the police immediately to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
