Thieves Steal Gold Jewellery Worth Rs 4.4 Lakh from Defence Establishment in Khadki

Pune: In a daring heist, unknown thieves broke into a house at a defence establishment in Khadki and made off with gold jewellery worth Rs 4.40 lakh on Sunday evening, police said. A 43-year-old Air Force official lodged a complaint with the Dapodi police on Monday.

Senior Inspector Mahadev Koli of the Dapodi police provided details about the incident. According to the complainant, he left his house around 6:00 PM on Sunday to watch a movie. Upon returning home, he noticed that the locks on the door of his house were broken. A thorough check revealed that gold jewellery worth Rs 4.40 lakh was missing from his cupboard.

The police have registered the case under sections 305 (theft in a dwelling house) and 331 (house trespass) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is currently underway to trace the culprits and recover the stolen items.

Defence establishments are generally considered secure areas, making this incident particularly alarming. The Air Force official's home is located in a residential area within the Khadki defence colony, which is known for its tight security measures. This breach has raised concerns about the security protocols in place and the need for enhanced surveillance in such areas.
