TRAI Empanels Shaurrya Teleservices for Digital Star Ratings in Real Estate

In a significant move, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has empanelled Shaurrya Teleservices Pvt. Ltd., a leading neutral digital infrastructure provider, as one of the country’s initial ‘Digital Connectivity Rating Agencies’ (DCRAs). This announcement marks a major milestone in India’s journey toward digitally-ready real estate and future-proof workplaces.

As a TRAI-empanelled agency, Shaurrya Teleservices will assess properties across India on critical parameters of digital connectivity, including fibre readiness, in-building mobile coverage, broadband quality, and IoT integrations. Properties will be assigned a star rating based on actual performance, in line with TRAI’s standardized methodology released in August 2025.

Speaking on the recognition, Pankaj Agrawal, Chairman, Shaurrya Teleservices, said, “This is a defining moment for India’s real estate and digital infrastructure ecosystem. Connectivity is no longer a luxury but a core utility, just like water or power. With TRAI’s certification framework, we now have a transparent way to measure and improve how buildings perform digitally. At Shaurrya, we are aligned at fostering innovation in Enterprise Network services, generating meaningful employment, expanding business opportunities, and supporting small startups alongside large enterprises, all toward making India a global business hub with high standards of living and equitable opportunities.”

Salil Ahuja, Chief Strategy Officer, Shaurrya Teleservices, added, “We see this as both a responsibility and an opportunity. As one of the first eight agencies empanelled by TRAI, Shaurrya will not only certify properties but also work hand-in-hand with Telecom and Internet Service providers to enable property developers to enhance their ratings through our infrastructure solutions, from IBS and FTTH to 5G microcells. I have been a part of the evolution in the UAE over a decade and now aim to make India’s built environment future-ready, resilient, and globally competitive. Enhanced connectivity leads to an improved customer experience at all levels.”

Sanjeev Goel, Chief Business Officer, Shaurrya Teleservices, said, “This initiative will enlighten the entire telecom ecosystem as 80% data consumption happens indoors and there is no mechanism to track problem areas. This initiative will empower users to know the gaps and once these gaps are highlighted, will become a source of information for Telecom and Internet providers along with the regulators.”

Shaurrya Teleservices’ recognition as a DCRA comes at a defining inflection point for India’s built environment. Connectivity has shifted from convenience to lifeline, powering India’s 63 million MSMEs running on cloud tools, students attending online classes, and families relying on telehealth and digital security. As real estate races to meet these expectations, certified buildings will emerge as the new benchmark of trust, commanding faster occupancy, stronger tenant stickiness, and sharper investor interest. For developers, digital star ratings are no longer a nice-to-have; they are set to be the next business differentiator.

In addition to certification, Shaurrya Teleservices plans to partner with leading developer associations such as CREDAI and NAREDCO to raise awareness about digital ratings, while showcasing case studies of early certified projects. The company is also preparing to launch knowledge initiatives that will educate stakeholders on how connectivity certifications can accelerate India’s 5G and Digital India goals.

With its dual strength as a neutral certifier and execution partner, Shaurrya Teleservices is uniquely positioned to bridge regulation and implementation, making digital ratings a tool for both compliance and commercial advantage.
