Woman Real Estate Agent Arrested for Fraudulent Reselling of Property in Adilabad

Police in Adilabad have arrested a 62-year-old woman real estate agent for allegedly cheating a retired TGRTC employee by illegally reselling a house site. The accused, Chintalapalli Ashalatha, was apprehended for her fraudulent activities, which involved reselling a property already registered in another person’s name.

Mavala Inspector Karre Swamy confirmed the arrest, stating that Ashalatha duped a retired TGRTC employee, Iqbal Ahmed, by selling a house site that was registered in the name of Dr. Mahesh in 1996. Ashalatha allegedly threatened Iqbal when he questioned the delay in registering the asset.

During the interrogation, Ashalatha confessed to the crime, admitting that she resold the plot to the customer with the help of her husband. She disclosed that her primary target was employees, as they were often more trusting and less likely to thoroughly verify property ownership.

The case against Ashalatha was registered based on a complaint from Iqbal, and she has been sent to judicial remand. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of real estate fraud, particularly in areas where property transactions are not always closely monitored.
