30 Duty Officers Reassigned in Pune Traffic Branch Amid Complaints
Pune, 22nd May 2025: In a major administrative shake-up, Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil has ordered the transfer of 30 ‘Duty Officers’ (DOs) from the Pune Traffic Branch following multiple complaints about their work. The officers have been reassigned to the Pune Cantonment and Bund Garden traffic divisions.
Duty officers in the traffic department are responsible for assigning daily tasks to personnel, including VIP bandobast (security arrangements), courtroom duties, and general traffic management. Recent grievances regarding mismanagement and inefficiency led to this large-scale reshuffle.
Patil issued the transfer orders late Tuesday (20th May) night as part of an effort to bring reforms to the functioning of the traffic division. Pune’s traffic branch consists of 30 active sub-divisions, each managed through duty officers who are pivotal in day-to-day operations.
As part of an ongoing reform initiative, all traffic personnel recently underwent specialized training focused on traffic control, public interaction, and professional conduct. The training aimed to enhance the skills and professionalism of the traffic personnel, ensuring they are better equipped to handle various duties efficiently.
The transfer of these duty officers is seen as a step towards improving the overall performance of the traffic branch. The Pune Traffic Branch plays a crucial role in maintaining traffic flow and ensuring public safety, and the recent complaints highlighted the need for such reforms. The reassignment of these officers to different divisions is expected to bring fresh perspectives and improve the quality of service.
The Pune Cantonment and Bund Garden traffic divisions, where the officers have been reassigned, are known for their high traffic volumes and the need for efficient management. This move is expected to bring about a positive change in these areas, enhancing the overall traffic management and public satisfaction.
The transfer orders issued by Patil are part of a broader initiative to modernize and streamline the operations of the traffic branch. The focus on training and reassignment underscores the commitment to maintaining high standards of service and addressing the concerns of the public. The Pune Traffic Branch remains dedicated to ensuring smooth traffic flow and public safety, and these reforms are a significant step in that direction.
