NLUJAA Presents 6th Edition of the Gurjeet Singh Memorial Moot Court Competition
The Moot Court Committee of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) is organizing the 6th Edition of the Gurjeet Singh Memorial Moot Court Competition from 6th to 8th June 2025. This prestigious event is in collaboration with the Chambers of Abhinav Mishra as the Title Sponsor, Lexcuria Lawyers as the Industry Engagement Partner, and SCC Online and SCC Times as the Knowledge and Media Partners respectively.
The Gurjeet Singh Memorial National Moot Court Competition is organized by NLUJAA in memory of the late Prof. (Dr.) Gurjeet Singh, who passed away on 1st April 2017. The competition aims to honor his legacy and contributions to the legal education and judicial system of Assam.
NLUJAA was established by the Government of Assam through the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009. The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court serves as the Chancellor of the University. NLUJAA provides modern legal education and research facilities to students, scholars, and faculty members from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds across the country, including the Northeast.
Chambers of Abhinav Mishra, founded in 2018, is a law firm known for its expertise in Insolvency, Real Estate, and Arbitration. The firm has expanded its practice to include Dispute Resolution, Insolvency & Restructuring, White Collar Crime, Corporate Advisory, Taxation, and more. The competition is open to all students enrolled in an undergraduate law course at any recognized institution. Each institution can send only one team, which must consist of a minimum of two and a maximum of three members.
The rewards for the participants are as follows: - Best Team Award: Cash prize of INR 1,00,000/- and a 1-year SCC Online subscription worth INR 72,000/- - Runners-Up Team Award: Cash prize of INR 60,000/- - Best Memorial Award (Petitioner): Cash prize of INR 25,000/- - Best Memorial Award (Respondent): Cash prize of INR 25,000/- - Best Speaker Award: Cash prize of INR 20,000/- - Best Researcher Award: Cash prize of INR 20,000/-
The timeline for the moot is as follows: - Deadline for Registration: 28-05-2025 - Deadline for seeking clarifications: 25-05-2025 - Release of Clarifications: 26-05-2025 - Submission of Memorials: 2-06-2025 - Oral Rounds: 6th to 8th June 2025
Participants need to pay a one-time registration fee of INR 9,000 per team to confirm their registration.
