The Adivasis protesting in Adilabad are residents of huts on government land in Komaram Bheem Colony. They are demanding action against real estate businessmen who have been threatening them to vacate their homes.
The Adivasis are demanding that the police book the accused under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and arrest them for allegedly abusing and intimidating Adivasi families.
The real estate businessmen accused of threatening the Adivasis include Kallambhuma Reddy, Thippanarayana, David, Suresh Agarwal, Mallesh, and a prominent advocate.
Thudum Debba is the organization under which the Adivasis staged their dharna. Thudum Debba State working president Godam Ganesh has appealed to the Chief Minister for the issuance of pattas for house sites and the provision of basic amenities for the Adivasi families.
The protest highlights broader issues of land rights, the protection of indigenous communities, and the need for the government to take proactive measures to address the grievances of marginalized groups like the Adivasis.
