Balasubramaniam, an AIADMK functionary, was arrested for conning an elderly woman in a real estate fraud.
Balasubramaniam is the AIADMK’s Rasipuram Town secretary.
The complainant is Padmavathy (63), from Veeranam Main Road.
After his arrest, Balasubramaniam was remanded in judicial custody and is now lodged in Salem Central Prison.
The other accused is AB Palanivel, a functionary in the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) party, and he is currently on the run.
