Bajel Projects Secures INR 700 Crore Contract for Substation in Maharashtra
Bajel Projects, an EPC company specializing in power transmission infrastructure, has secured a contract worth INR 700 crore from the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) to develop a new substation in the state.
Under this project, the company will construct a 400/220 kV air-insulated switchgear (AIS) substation at Saswad in Pune, along with the necessary transmission lines to connect it to the existing network, according to the company's statement.
Bajel Projects, which operates under the Bajaj Group, has been active in the power infrastructure sector for several years, focusing on high-voltage transmission and distribution projects. This order adds to its growing portfolio of large-scale power infrastructure assignments across India, highlighting its expertise in designing and executing technically complex projects.
The Maharashtra government has been prioritizing the expansion and modernization of its power transmission network to ensure a stable electricity supply to urban and rural areas. Projects like the Saswad substation are part of broader efforts to strengthen the state's grid and accommodate growing energy demand, especially in rapidly developing regions around Pune.
Industry analysts note that EPC players like Bajel Projects benefit from such government-backed initiatives, as they provide both revenue certainty and opportunities to demonstrate technical capabilities in high-voltage installations. The project is expected to improve transmission efficiency and reduce power losses in the region.
Bajel Projects' involvement in this project not only solidifies its position in the power infrastructure market but also underscores its commitment to contributing to the nation's energy infrastructure development. The company's track record of successful project execution and technical expertise positions it well to handle such large-scale assignments.
The completion of the Saswad substation and its integration into the existing power grid will play a crucial role in enhancing the reliability and efficiency of electricity distribution in Maharashtra, supporting the state's economic growth and development.
