BMRCL has submitted the feasibility report for the extension to Tumakuru. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be sent to the central government after state cabinet approval.
The metro line will pass through several key elevated stations, including Nelamangala, Weaver’s Colony, Budihal, T Begur, Sompura Industrial Area, Dobbspet, Kyathsandra, Tumakuru bus stand, TUDA Layout, and Sira Gate.
The extension is expected to benefit thousands of commuters by reducing travel time and traffic congestion, particularly for IT employees residing in the areas along the route.
Some critics, including Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan, argue that the project primarily benefits real estate businesses rather than commuters and is more expensive compared to suburban rail options.
The construction work for the project is expected to begin once it receives approval from the central government.
