BJP Leader Shehzad Poonawalla's Mother Seriously Injured in Alleged Hit-and-Run Incident in Pune
NEW DELHI: BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has alleged that his mother was deliberately run over by a car in Pune, leaving her seriously injured. “A few hours ago, an extremely disgusting human being ran his car over my mother deliberately, leaving her seriously injured and ran away. She will be undergoing surgery very soon. Kindly pray for her. My mother is one of the kindest & nicest human beings, and for her to be subjected to this at this age makes my blood boil, and my heart sink,” Poonawalla wrote on X.
He reiterated the allegation and tagged senior police officials and political leaders, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Chief Minister’s Office. Poonawalla’s post gained significant attention, and he expressed his hope that the Pune police would take swift action to apprehend the accused.
Responding to the post, the Chief Minister’s Office stated that Fadnavis expressed deep remorse over the incident and spoke to Poonawalla. The CM also instructed authorities to take necessary steps to ensure justice. “This is very unfortunate. CM Devendra Fadnavis has given necessary instructions to senior police officials of the State and Pune. CM also spoke to Shehzad Poonawalla in detail and wished her a speedy recovery,” the CM’s office wrote in their response.
