BJP Slams Congress for Turning Global Summit into Real Estate Show

Hyderabad: The State BJP on Thursday accused the Congress government of misleading the public with its claims on the Global Summit, describing the event as a graphic show designed to project inflated achievements.

Armoor MLA P Rakesh Reddy alleged that the summit lacked basic arrangements, stating that “there were hardly any facilities even for MLAs”. He said the gathering appeared to feature only a handful of real estate developers and resembled “a brochure release ceremony of real estate agencies”, rather than an international investment platform.

Rakesh Reddy said the Congress government should refrain from making tall claims and instead focus on the promises it made to the people. In a video circulating on social media, the MLA said that people, particularly youth in thandas and villages, were being pushed into such distress that they were selling their kidneys and blood. He urged the government to prioritize health, education, and employment in rural areas.

Rakesh Reddy said the objective of the summit appeared to be an attempt to push up land prices rather than attract meaningful investment. He questioned whether the Congress government had built even a single school or hospital in Adilabad or other districts in the past two years.

“The State government boasts about a Rs.5 lakh crore annual budget and Rs.3 lakh crore debts. Where did the Rs.8 lakh crore vanish? Still three years are left for the Congress government and it should address people’s issues,” he said.

The BJP's criticism highlights the growing frustration among the opposition and the public regarding the government's focus on ostentatious events rather than addressing pressing issues like rural distress and infrastructure development. The Congress government, however, has defended its actions, stating that the Global Summit is a crucial platform for attracting investment and showcasing the state's potential to the world.

The debate surrounding the Global Summit underscores the broader political tensions in Telangana, where the BJP and Congress are engaged in a fierce battle for public support. The opposition's allegations of mismanagement and lack of transparency are likely to play a significant role in the upcoming political discourse.
