The main issue at Trident Galaxy apartments is the outbreak of diarrhoea, jaundice, and other gastrointestinal illnesses due to groundwater contamination caused by a defunct sewage treatment plant and poor solid waste management.
Nearly 60 percent of the residents, which is around 600 out of 1,236 flats, have experienced gastrointestinal illnesses including jaundice and hepatitis in the last three months.
The BMC will not grant permission to the developer to take up another real estate project until they address the concerns of the residents and resolve the groundwater contamination issue.
The residents have been living in the apartment project for over a decade, but there is no public water supply facility. The BMC will ask the builder to facilitate municipal water supply for the residents.
The residents' welfare association hopes that the BMC’s strict action will lead to a resolution of their long-standing issues and a healthier living environment.
