Builder Arrested for Illegal Seven-Storey Residential Apartment in Dombivli
A builder has been arrested for constructing a seven-storey residential building in Dombivli, using fake regulatory approvals and forged documents, according to police. The accused, identified as Prafull Gore, was apprehended following a complaint lodged by an official of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC).
Gore allegedly used fabricated documents and fake regulatory approvals to construct the building, named Shiv Aradhana, located in the Kopar area of Dombivli West, which is part of the neighboring Kalyan city. The structure was built illegally, primarily with the help of a forged Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) certificate.
The police stated that the builder misled prospective homebuyers by showing them fabricated approvals and other fraudulent paperwork. This deception has caused significant panic among the residents of the building, many of whom have invested their life savings in purchasing flats.
With the structure now officially categorized as illegal, there are mounting fears that the KDMC could initiate demolition action. This possibility leaves more than 100 families without a place to call home, exacerbating the already tense situation.
The KDMC has been working diligently to address the issue and ensure that the rights of the homeowners are protected. However, the illegal construction highlights a broader problem in the real estate sector, where fraudulent practices can have severe consequences for unsuspecting buyers.
Authorities are urging residents to come forward with any information that could help in the investigation. They are also advising potential homebuyers to thoroughly verify all regulatory approvals and documents before making any significant investments in real estate projects.
The case has brought to light the importance of stringent regulatory measures and the need for greater transparency in the real estate market. It serves as a stark reminder for both builders and buyers to adhere to the legal framework and avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
