The CBI, or Central Bureau of Investigation, has registered 22 FIRs and conducted raids at 47 locations in the National Capital Region (NCR) to investigate alleged homebuyer fraud by real estate builders and their alleged nexus with financial institutions.
The Supreme Court directed the CBI to take action following a series of Special Leave Petitions (SLPs) filed by distressed homebuyers who accused builders of cheating and project delays, as well as coercive recovery actions by financial institutions.
The builders named in the CBI FIRs include Supertech Ltd., Jaypee Infratech Ltd., Ajnara India Ltd., Vatika Ltd., and CHD Developers Ltd., among others.
The expected outcome of the CBI's actions is to bring much-needed relief to homebuyers who have been suffering due to the unethical practices of these builders and to ensure accountability and transparency in the real estate sector.
Homebuyers can stay informed about the progress of these investigations by following updates from the CBI and the Supreme Court, as well as through reliable news sources and real estate platforms.
