The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered 22 FIRs against various builders in the National Capital Region (NCR) and unknown functionaries of financial institutions, following the Supreme Court's directive to investigate the alleged cheating and defrauding of homebuyers.

The Subvention Scheme is a financial arrangement where a developer or builder pays the interest on a home loan for a certain period, typically to make the property more attractive to buyers. However, in the NCR housing scam, it was allegedly used to defraud homebuyers.
The CBI registered 22 FIRs against different builders operating in the NCR and unknown functionaries of financial institutions.
The Supreme Court observed an 'unholy nexus' between the builders and financial institutions, noting that they had cheated homebuyers by introducing the 'Subvention Scheme' of home loans.
Prominent real estate companies named in the FIRs include M/s Supertech Limited, M/s Earthcon Universal Infratech Pvt. Ltd., M/s Bulland Buildtech Pvt. Ltd., M/s Rudra Buildwell Construction Pvt. Ltd., M/s Logix City Developers Pvt. Ltd., M/s Jaypee Infratech Ltd., M/s Ajnara India Ltd., and Jaypee Sports International Limited/Jaiprakash Associates Limited.
After registering the FIRs, the CBI conducted searches at 47 premises linked to the accused across the NCR, seized various incriminating documents and digital electronic evidence, and is continuing the investigation.
