The main reason behind the murder of V G Shivaprakash alias Bikla Shiva was a dispute over a high-value property in east Bengaluru, which was claimed by Shiva and Jagadish alias Jaga following a dispute among the original owners.
The key accused in the murder case include Jagadish alias Jaga, a known associate of BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj, and his alleged henchmen Kiran K and Vimal Raj, along with several others who were brought in from Kolar to execute the murder.
The police gathered evidence through CCTV footage from multiple locations, which provided crucial details on the movements and activities of the gang members on the day of the murder and their meetings to plan the crime.
Byrathi Basavaraj, the BJP MLA from the K R Pura region in east Bengaluru, has been named as an accused and has been quizzed by the Bengaluru police on two occasions. He is a known associate of Jagadish alias Jaga, one of the key accused.
The men from Kolar were hired with an offer of ₹ 20 lakh each and were paid an initial amount of ₹ 1.5 lakh along with the promise of life settlement. The people who kept a watch on Shiva’s movements since February were paid ₹ 30,000 each.
