Chalavadi Narayanaswamy Criticizes Congress Government for Prioritizing Real Estate Over Development
Real Estate News:Bengaluru, Oct 27 (UNI) - Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, the Opposition Leader in the Karnataka Legislative Council, has strongly criticized the Congress government for prioritizing real estate projects over genuine development. Responding to remarks suggesting that Members of Parliament should be responsible for securing funds, Narayanaswamy said the government had failed to deliver on development. “If the government cannot ensure development, it should step down. How will people of this state tolerate such governance for the next two-and-a-half years?” he asked.

Narayanaswamy also voiced strong opposition to the proposed tunnel road project in Bengaluru, warning that it could pose long-term risks to the city’s structure and environment. He said several organizations and environmental groups had already raised concerns about the plan. “This is not a public welfare project. Citizens would have to pay Rs 300 to Rs 400 as toll. If the government can execute it without burdening the public, let them do it. Otherwise, surface roads are more practical,” he said.

He urged the government to halt the continuous expansion of Bengaluru and called for greater focus on developing neighboring districts such as Tumakuru, Kolar, and Chikkaballapur. He pointed out that regions like Kalaburagi and Vijayapura still remained backward in terms of per capita income and industrial growth. Narayanaswamy appealed to Industries Minister MB Patil to prioritize setting up industries in these areas.

On Minister Priyank Kharge’s recent remarks about RSS funding, Narayanaswamy said there was no need for him to respond. “Let the Enforcement Directorate or Income Tax Department seek clarifications if required. He should go to the RSS office and ask directly,” he said, adding that there was no legal requirement for the RSS to be registered.

He further alleged that ongoing speculation about a cabinet reshuffle had created an atmosphere of uncertainty within the Congress. “Instead of focusing on governance, the ruling party leaders are busy with internal power negotiations and unnecessary controversies,” he said. Narayanaswamy emphasized the need for the government to focus on development and address the genuine needs of the people rather than engaging in political maneuvering and creating unnecessary controversies.

The Congress government in Karnataka has been under increasing pressure to deliver on its development promises. Critics argue that the focus on real estate and infrastructure projects that benefit a few at the expense of the broader public interest is exacerbating socio-economic inequalities. Narayanaswamy’s comments reflect the growing discontent among the opposition and the public regarding the government’s priorities and performance.
