CinCin Bandra: Mumbai's Chic New Italian Dining Destination
Mumbai’s enduring appetite for elevated dining has found a decadent new address in Bandra West. High above Linking Road on the 13th floor of Mansionz One, CinCin Bandra arrives as a polished continuation of one of the city’s most loved Italian dining institutions, now imagined through a distinctly Bandra lens. Larger, moodier and distinctly more social, the new outpost unfolds like an indulgent escape suspended above the city’s chaos, where aperitivo hour seamlessly melts into candlelit dinners and late night revelry.
For a city perpetually chasing the next beautiful room, CinCin feels transportive without trying too hard. You’re welcomed with warm terracotta textures, vintage inspired lighting, patterned tiles and pockets of layered greenery. A vibrant TukTuk installation and a spirited aperitivo bar inject energy into the interiors, making the space feel like a glamorous Italian piazza reimagined for Mumbai’s social set.
Of course, the real test of any Italian restaurant lies in what arrives on the plate. We began with the Elderflower Emergency, a sparkling cocktail that felt effortlessly flirtatious. Built with Lillet Blanc, cucumber, elderflower and prosecco, it arrived bright and buoyant, balancing juicy freshness with delicate floral notes before finishing with an unexpectedly cheeky whisper of spice. The kind of drink that belongs in golden hour light and feels like a cucumber refresh. The Hello From Sorrento followed with considerably more drama. A layered blend of tequila, mezcal, house made limoncello, lavender, chamomile, guava and blue pea tea, it unfolded with a complexity that felt distinctly Mediterranean but still had a jell-o shot along with a chamomile disguised in a blue pea sea.
The Crostini e Zucca, layered with roasted butternut squash, pickled onion and blue cheese was one too sweet for me, but similar to that of a formal register. Sweetness from the squash mingled with the salty richness of the cheese, while the pickled onion added just enough sharpness to stop things from becoming overly decadent.
Arguably, the standouts were the salad and the Risotto Funghi. Silken Carnaroli rice folded through with earthy mushrooms and crowned with fresh shaved black truffle at the table, this was comfort elevated to near obsession. The truffle was generous and soulful. Rich without tipping into heaviness, deeply savoury and quietly luxurious, this was easily the dish worth returning for. The Calamarata, however, surprised me in a different way. While the menu promises a vodka spiked spicy tomato cream sauce, the alcohol itself remained almost imperceptible. Instead, the dish leaned into velvety comfort, with the tomato cream carrying warmth rather than sharpness. Finished with basil oil and asparagus, it landed as approachable, rich and crowd pleasing rather than overtly punchy.
As for the Verde pizza, topped with pesto, potatoes and Fior di Latte cheese, it proved slightly more divisive. While beautifully baked with an airy crust and quality ingredients, the addition of potatoes felt heavier than expected and slightly muted the brightness one hopes for in a pesto forward pizza.
