CREDAI Pune Seeks PMRDA as Planning Authority for 23 Villages

By GeoSquare News Desk · Published 2026-10-23

Pune: CREDAI Pune Metro has asked the Maharashtra government to keep the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) as the planning authority for township projects in 23 villages on the city’s outskirts.

Why the demand has come up

Developers fear that any shift in planning authority could slow down approvals for integrated townships and create uncertainty for buyers. Retaining PMRDA, they argue, will ensure continuity in project clearances and help maintain the pace of infrastructure development in these areas.

What it means for Pune’s property market

The 23 villages form part of Pune’s fast-growing fringe belt, where demand for plotted developments, row houses and affordable apartments remains steady. A stable planning framework is likely to support timely project delivery and keep buyer sentiment positive.

CREDAI has also stressed the need for smoother coordination between PMRDA and other civic agencies to speed up road, water supply and drainage works around these township projects.
