Cricketing Icon Yuvraj Singh Takes on Real Estate Firms Over Privacy Violation and Delayed Possession
Real Estate:Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has taken a strong stance against two Delhi-based real estate firms, M/s Brilliant Etoile Private Limited and M/s Uppal Housing Private Limited, by issuing legal notices against them. The notices, which invoke arbitration clauses, were sent in response to alleged breaches related to privacy rights and delayed possession of a property.

The first notice addresses the delay in the completion and possession of a dwelling unit that Singh booked in 2020 at Hauz Khas, New Delhi. The notice demands adequate damages for the delay caused and seeks the delivery of an apartment that matches the promised quality. Singh claims to have been offered a significantly inferior unit, which has led to the dispute.

The second notice, issued solely to Brilliant Etoile Private Limited, pertains to the alleged misuse of Singh's image and privacy rights. According to the notice, Singh had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the firm on November 24, 2020, agreeing to promote and endorse their project. However, the firm continued to use Singh's photographs on billboards, project sites, social media posts, and articles beyond the agreed period, which has resulted in a breach of his Intellectual Property Rights, including Copyright, Personality Rights, and Right to Publicity.

Singh has emphasized that the unauthorized use of his likeness post the MoU's expiry is a severe infringement on his rights, warranting legal action. The cricketing icon is seeking both rectification and compensation for the breaches cited in the legal notices.

Yuvraj Singh is a former Indian cricketer who played for the Indian national team from 2000 to 2017. He is a renowned international cricketer who has won several accolades, including the Man of the Tournament award in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.

M/s Brilliant Etoile Private Limited and M/s Uppal Housing Private Limited are two Delhi-based real estate firms that specialize in developing residential and commercial properties.
