The main issue is trademark infringement, where Lenscut, a Pune-based eyewear retailer, was using branding, logos, and store design that closely resembled those of Lenskart, leading to customer confusion.
The Delhi High Court issued an ex-parte injunction restraining Lenscut from using the mark ‘Lenscut’ or any similar name/logo to Lenskart, and appointed a Local Commissioner to conduct raids and seize infringing goods.
The order was passed by Justice Tejas Karia on August 18, 2025.
Lenskart, established in 2008, has invested substantially in building its reputation in India and abroad, making it the first and rightful user of the brand and its distinctive trademarks.
The matter has been listed for further hearing on November 24, 2025, to address any additional issues and ensure compliance with the court’s directives.
