The main issue was the repeated filing of petitions by advocate Gulshan Babbar seeking a CBI probe against real estate company IREO Residences and its directors for alleged diversion of company funds.
The Court imposed costs on the advocate for knowingly concealing the pendency of other petitions, making false declarations, and misrepresenting the contents of previous orders.
The total amount of costs imposed is ₹1,25,000, with ₹25,000 for each of the five petitions.
The ED has already registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR), filed prosecution complaints, and attached properties worth ₹1,376 crore.
The Court found that the advocate, Gulshan Babbar, does not qualify as a homebuyer or a directly affected party and, therefore, lacks the locus standi to seek directions from the court.
